All applicants must successfully complete the Safety Program and the Jurisprudence Course prior to applying for registration with the CTCMPAO. The tests may be completed before or after the Pan-Canadian Examinations.
The Safety Program prepares practitioners in traditional Chinese medicine to practise according to expected safety standards, procedures and processes when offering TCM services to patients. It is also an important reference tool to help members maintain and upgrade their competencies in safe practices.
The Jurisprudence Course provides information on the ethical and legal framework within which Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists are expected to practise in Ontario.

Step 1: Submit an application
Create a Portal account and apply online from within your Portal. You will be required to pay an application fee and submit a copy of your proof of identity along with your application.
If you require any in-person testing accommodations, please complete the Accommodations Request Form and submit it to registration@ctcmpao.on.ca.
Step 2: Schedule your test
After applying, you will receive a separate email invitation within two weeks with instructions on how to schedule your test. Tests must be completed within six months of applying for them.
Step 3: Prepare for your tests
Prior to writing the tests, ensure you print out the Safety Program Handbook and Jurisprudence Course Handbook, published by the CTCMPAO. You are also recommended to review the test procedures and test your equipment in advance.

Step 4: Receive your results
Candidates will be notified of their results within two weeks of completing the test. Test results are valid for three years.
