It has come to the attention of the College that on January 12, 2018, Sherman Shu-Seng Lai, R. TCMP #1897, was charged with six more counts of sexual assault involving five additional persons, all of which were former patients. This was a result of further investigation into the charges of October 31, 2017 and November 29, 2017 by the Guelph Police Service for sexual assault against a former patient.
Mr. Lai's practice, the Centre of Integrative Natural Medicine had been located on Surrey Street for over 20 years, but moved locations approximately 6 years ago and is currently located at 3 Badenoch Street in Morriston, Ontario.
The College is investigating these matters. Mr. Lai has signed a voluntary undertaking with the College and is not able to practice TCM or acupuncture.
Guelph Police are informing the public that there is no statute of limitations on crimes of this nature and any persons with information can contact D/Sgt. Clark at 519-824-1212 extension #7518 or at mclark@guelphpolice.ca.
