The College recently held its 2023 Council Elections, with positions available for Districts 1, 2, 3 and 5. We are pleased to announce the results for each district below; however, we would like to first thank all those who nominated themselves for election. Council members play a vital role in the College’s mandate to protect the public. We are encouraged by all those who show interest in this important function, and hope that engagement with the College will grow.
District 1
Two positions on Council were up for election from District 1. Current Council members Joanne Pritchard-Sobhani and Jackie Zeng have been successful in their re-election.
District 2
One position on Council was up for election from District 2. The College received one nomination from District 2, and so no election was held. Christine Lang has been acclaimed to the seat for District 2. Ms. Lang is returning to Council after previously serving from 2013-2018.
District 3
One position on Council was up for election from District 3. Kathy (Bo) Feng has been elected to the seat in District 3. This will be Ms. Fengs first term on Council.
District 5
No nominations were received for District 5. As a result, a by-election will take place in accordance with section 6.02(ii) of the College’s By-laws. The date of the by-election will be announced at a later time.
The College congratulates those who have been elected to Council, and we look forward to our important work with them to regulate the profession in the public interest. Incoming Council members will begin their term at the December 7, 2023 Council meeting.
Finally, we would like to acknowledge outgoing Council member from District 2, Matthew Colavecchia, who chose not to seek re-election. Mr. Colavecchia’s dedication to the public interest has been exemplary and his contributions to the College has been impactful. We thank him for all of his hard work during his time on Council.
