Clarification from Ministry of Health on Updated Directive 2

Further to our announcement regarding an update to Directive 2 for Health Care Providers, the Ministry of Health has released a Questions and Answers Document to clarify which health services are required to cease. This document states that procedures must cease if they require “surgical nursing support or anaesthetist support or carries a risk of resulting in the use of emergency medical services or other hospital services due to serious intra-operative or post-operative complications”. It is the College’s position that this change to Directive 2 does not directly impact Registered TCM Practitioners and Acupuncturists.

The College is of the opinion that the services provided by TCM Practitioners and Acupuncturists do not meet this definition, therefore, this change to Directive 2 does not directly impact Registered TCM Practitioners and Acupuncturists.

TCM Practitioners and Acupuncturists are reminded that while providing in-person care, they must continue to follow all CTCMPAO and Ministry of Health guidance on reducing the spread of COVID-19. We thank TCM Practitioners and Acupuncturists for their continued efforts in following these requirements to protect their staff, colleagues and patients. Please visit the College’s COVID-19 webpage for more information. If you have any questions, please contact the College for further information.
