On December 18, 2019, CTCMPAO had the honour of having Ms. Deanna Williams, President of Dundee Consulting Group Ltd. and Ms. Rebecca Durcan, Legal Counsel of Steinecke Maciura LeBlanc to speak on ‘What is the Role of a Regulator?’.
The presentation encompassed the Harry Cayton report, ‘Inquiry into the Performance of the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia and the Health Professions Act’ as well as the report dated November 2019 from the government of British Columbia entitled "Modernizing the Provincial Health Profession Regulatory Framework: A Paper for Consultation". The reports provided insight and background surrounding the definition of good governance and the foundation on which good governance is built upon. Ms. Durcan went on to inform about the importance of being able to recognize, disclose and resolve conflict of interest through various scenarios and thought-provoking discussion.
