The Council of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (the College) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Chu as Deputy Registrar effective January 1, 2025. Ryan will continue his duties overseeing the College’s Professional Conduct Department as Director of Professional Conduct.
Ryan joined the College seven years ago and has worked in various senior positions. Prior to joining the College, Ryan worked for a delegated administrative authority where he supported a risk-based regulatory program to investigate real estate agents, brokerages, and unlawful trading in real estate. He has a Master of Business Administration from Trinity Western University and is a licensed Paralegal with the Law Society of Ontario.
The primary function of the Deputy Registrar is to provide leadership to the College and fulfill the duties of the Registrar where the Registrar is absent or unable to act, or there is a vacancy in the Registrar position. As part of our ongoing review in meeting the College Performance Measurement Framework, The College Council and Registrar identified succession planning as a key priority for the 2024 calendar year, and this included appointing a Deputy Registrar in 2024.
Council, along with the Registrar, unanimously supported Ryan’s appointment to this position. His regulatory and institutional knowledge as well as his commitment to the College in fulfilling our public interest mandate, made him an excellent candidate for the Deputy Registrars position. Ryan’s tenure at the College in being familiar with internal operations of the College, our five year Strategic Plan, and many external stakeholders ensures continuity in advancing the College’s priority in building stronger relationships amongst our stakeholders. His professional and educational background provide him with a strong foundation for regulatory leadership and gives him valuable insight into a range of issues encountered by the College. We are excited to work with and learn from Ryan in this new capacity.
