Updates to the Standards of Practice

The College would like to announce two new Standards of Practice that will take effect on January 1, 2020:

Please review these Standards and make any required changes to your practice by January 1, 2020.

Standards of Practice set the minimum requirements for professional practice. It is important that the College reviews its Standards periodically, as they inform members of what is expected of them, and help patients understand what to expect when seeking treatment from a member of the College. The College is currently reviewing the readability of its Standards to ensure that they are accessible to all audiences.

The goal of this review is to put in place Standards that are written in plain language and have an easy to read format. In addition, the content of the Standards will be relevant to the issues facing the regulation of the profession. While some of the College’s current Standards will be updated with the new format, others will be replaced by new Standards.

Current College Standards that will be retired as of January 1, 2020 are:

Please note that a member’s obligation to abide by the governing legislation is unchanged. This includes the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Act, 2006 and their associated regulations.
